Our Prediction India vs Pakistan Asia Cup
Pakistan would win this game
The most awaited game of Asia Cup 2018 is here as arch rivals India and Pakistan will battle it out at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. There is nothing in International Cricket that even comes close to an India-Pakistan game in terms of the emotions, intensity and passion we see on the cricket field and on the stands. With these sides not playing each other in bilateral contests anymore due to strained relations a contest between the two sides in such multilateral contests is eagerly awaited. Punters from around the world would have their eyes on this game as nothing gets bigger than this in the world of cricket.
They won the Champions Trophy last year defeating India in the final and have looked a very good ODI side ever since. Captain Sarfraz Ahmed would go into this game with great amount of confidence in the side that sparkled as a unit in the recently concluded ODI series in Zimbabwe. They finally seem to have a well-balanced team that has both youth and experience who have been on a roll over the last year. But he would be worried about the unpredictability title that the team always carries where they turn from an invincible side to an ordinary one in a matter of a game. People who look like match winners in one game become ordinary souls in no time.
Talking about Pakistan’s batting the opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq looks very strong and they complement each other. Babar Azam looks well settled at No. 3 and is comfortable playing spin and pace. Sohaib Malik along with skipper Ahmed is the perfect fit in the middle over slot and Asif Ali will be expected to do well in the end overs. Switching over to the bowling department in Junaid Khan and Mohammad Amir they have the best new ball attack which is strengthened by first change bowler Hasan Ali. Sohaib Malik in company of Mohammad Nawaz will take care of the attack in the middle overs and look to fox the strong Indian batting line-up.
Virat Kohli’s absence as a batsman and skipper is a huge void that few can expect to fill but Rohit Sharma would lead a confident side in this game. The team has been performing brilliantly in the 50 over format for last few seasons and being ranked 2nd in ICC Team Rankings is just a testimony to this fact. They have been winning games in all conditions and their performance in South Africa at the start of the year says a lot about the strength of the side. But Rohit would also know that the side is completely dependent on the top order to win a game and the middle order failed miserably in the ODI series they played in England.
The Top 3 Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul are the mainstays of India batting and the team would depend on one of these to get a big score. It is the middle order that would concern the skipper as MS Dhoni struggled with form in the last series and the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav are making a comeback. Hardik Pandya looks the perfect finisher for the side. The bowling attack for India is decent with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah sharing the new ball and India’s new found spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal having troubled batsmen in all kinds of conditions. They would like to make the best out of the turn that Dubai pitch would offer.
It is a close call between the two sides but given the fact that Indians have a better batting line-up they would start as favourites in this much awaited game.
