Crvena Zvezda vs Liverpool: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Red Star welcome Liverpool to Belgrade for a vital Group C match and will hope that the passionate home crowd can help them to their first win.
Red Star know that anything less than a victory over Liverpool will probably mean the end of any hopes for progressing in this season’s Champions League. Jürgen Klopp’s men made their 4-0 win look easy a couple of weeks ago and they will go into this match as huge favourites despite the likelihood of a vociferous home crowd.
Liverpool top Group C but only have one more home game so know that three points from the weakest side is needed to keep the pressure on Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain. The potential inclusion of Kosovan Albanian Xherdan Shaqiri has already made headlines and the rejuvenated Swiss international is sure to receive a hostile reception.
The Serbian side may not have won a single game in the Champions League group stage so far but they are once again taking their domestic league by storm. They have only dropped two points all season and look odds on to qualify for next season’s competition even if it looks like their involvement in this year’s edition is coming to a close.
Liverpool have continued their fine form in the English Premier League and have managed to keep up with the pace set by Manchester City and Chelsea. Mo Salah has also started to regain some of the electrifying form he displayed last season and could cause Red Star’s defence all kinds of trouble in this match. Liverpool to win 2-1 in Belgrade.
- Both teams to score
Liverpool should win this one relatively easily but Red Star will want some kind of revenge for the 4-0 drubbing they received at Anfield. Expect the hosts to at least score here.
- Total goals under 3.5
Many will be tempted to bet on another goal-fest for Liverpool as in the first game but this will be more difficult for the Premier League side and, although they should win, the score line will not be as emphatic.

- Proving how instrumental he is to the success of this Liverpool side, defender Andrew Robertson lies just one behind Jordi Alba in this year’s Champions League assists table.
- Red Star have not had much joy in Group C so far and their frustration is shown by Branko Jovicic featuring highly in the fouls committed list.
- Liverpool have scored all seven of the group stage goals at Anfield but were unable to find the net on a very disappointing night in Naples.
- Red Star may be averaging around three goals a game in the Serbian SuperLiga but they have just the one in the Champions League group stage.
