Cheltenham Festival 2018: Day 4 Predictions
Day four of Cheltenham 2018 is shaping up to be another tremendous day of action on the turf with the Gold Cup set to be another hugely competitive affair. Last year’s winner Sizing John was a late withdrawal from the contest after sustaining a pelvic injury and sadly won’t be able to defend his crown. Might Bite is the joint-favourite to land this year’s renewal and the Nicky Henderson charge has been extremely popular in the betting following a dominant display in the King George at Kempton. He is 9/2 with 888Sport and is fancied to win at Prestbury Park for the second successive year. With the rain reportedly arriving overnight in Gloucestershire, the appropriately named Native River has also been backed and should run well. Definitely Red will be representing the North and trainer Brian Ellison is confident of his chances in this prestigious event. 888Sport offer a standout 12/1 for the Cotswold Chase winner to make a winning return to the track, and that looks like a decent value bet.
It’s a small-ish field for the Triumph Hurdle with Apple’s Shakira currently listed as the 2/1 favourite for the contest. At a bigger price, Mr Adjudicator could be interesting. He has plenty of scope and impressed at Leopardstown and provides a decent alternative at around 8/1 in the betting.
Sandsend Could Dominate in the County Hurdle
The County Hurdle looks suitably competitive and could potentially throw up a couple of surprises. Sandsend has been prominent in the market but made two blunders towards the end of his victory at Naas and should come on for that run. Lagostovegas returns after three months off and always tends to go well fresh. Flying Tiger could be interesting at around 16/1 and looks to have been handed a decent handicap mark for this contest.
