Can Presenting Percy Return to Winning Ways in the RSA Chase?
The 2018 RSA Chase is shaping up to be a hugely entertaining contest with leading Irish fancies Presenting Percy and Monalee going head-t0-head at Prestbury Park. 888Sport have installed the former as the 5/2 favourite for the three-mile event, which takes place on March 14th.
Presenting Percy has won eight times throughout his short career, including twice over the larger obstacles. Notable victories include a five-length success in the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park in January and a three-length victory over Gordon Elliot’s De Potting Shed in a Beginners Chase at Galway. He was last seen picking up a useful looking second place behind Our Duke in the Red Mills Chase but was only narrowly edged out by the eight-year-old in the closing stages.
Patrick Kelly’s charge can boast previous course form having made all in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at last year’s festival.
Monalee is Aiming to Upset the Favourite
Monalee is another standout chance in the race and is the current 3/1 second favourite in the ante-post market. The impressive Novice was last seen beating Al Boum Photo at Leopardstown in the Grade 1 event on February 4th. Trainer Henry de Bromhead has confirmed that the RSA Chase is the main aim for his talented seven-year-old. He is showing no ill-effects from the unfortunate fall suffered at the end of 2017 and is likely to be well-backed at Cheltenham 2018.
The aforementioned Al Boum Photo is one of many Willie Mullins runners at the festival and is available at a standout 11/1 with William Hill for the RSA Chase just ahead of Invitation Only and Shattered Love.
