British Sides Must Secure Top Spot in Final Champions League Games

champions leagueThe group stage of the UEFA Champions League will reach its conclusion on December 5 and 6 with a number of the British sides all but guaranteed a place in the last 16. Chelsea have comfortably negotiated their passage through a tricky-looking Group C and will play their sixth and final game against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge. A victory would knock Diego Simeone’s side out of the competition and secure top spot for the Blues. Antonio Conte will not allow his side to take their foot off the gas with a potentially favourable draw on offer.

Chelsea have won three of their five matches in the group but Italian giants Roma are waiting to pounce should the West Londoners slip up against Simeone’s men. Here at BettingTop10, we’ve compiled a list of the top UK betting websites, who are offering 15/13 on Chelsea to take all three points in their final group game. Atletico are 12/5 to spring a surprise and secure their own qualification to the knock-out stages.

Manchester United appear to be comfortable at the top of Group A and host CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford on December 5. Jose Mourinho’s side only need a point to guarantee top spot with second-place Basel travelling to face rock-bottom Benfica. The Red Devils won’t be able to call upon Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini for this game, although they should still have enough to beat the Russian Premier League outfit. Manchester United won 4-1 during their previous meeting in this group.

Liverpool also face Russian opposition on December 6 as they welcome Spartak Moscow to Merseyside. The Reds go into the tie top of Group E but Sevilla sit just a point behind and end their campaign against bottom side Maribor. Jurgen Klopp’s side have a far superior goal difference but cannot afford to be complacent in this second encounter with the Russian champions. 888Sport have priced them up as 3/14 favourites for this contest at Anfield.
