World Cup Winners Germany Look To Keep Up 100% Record Against Czech Republic
2014 World Cup winners Germany have a 100% record in Group E going into the latest round of fixtures in their qualifying campaign for Russia next year. The defending champions are away to the Czech Republic on September 1, where another victory would put them a step closer to the major tournament.
Germany return to action after winning the Confederations Cup over the summer, where they beat Chile in the final 1-0. Manager Joachim Low used that tournament in Russia to give the opportunity to many of the fringe players in his squad, however, he is expected to start his strongest XI for games against the Czech Republic and Norway.
The last time the two sides met, Germany were comfortable 3-0 winners. Thomas Muller grabbed a brace for his side while Toni Kroos was on the score sheet in Prague. Germany are odds-on at -225 to record their seventh win of the campaign from seven games ahead of their home tie with Norway.
Switzerland Defend 100% Record Against Andorra
Switzerland are the only other team in Europe to have a perfect record after six games in their 2018 World Cup qualifying group. The Group B leaders will be expected to land their seventh win at home to Andorra on August 31 as the minnows of world football are in sixth place with just four points so far.
Vladimir Petkovic’s side have conceded just three goals so far in their group. They defeated Andorra 2-1 in a tight game last October and are short as -5000 for another victory in their qualifying campaign.
Switzerland have qualified for the last three consecutive World Cup tournaments. They reached the last 16 in Brazil three years ago where they were beaten 1-0 by Argentina. Their best ever finish in the tournament is the quarter-final, which they reached in 1934, 1938 and 1954.
