Forget Spurs and Arsenal because Watford are the new kings of North London after Javi Gracia’s side has recorded their best ever start to a top-flight campaign. Now the real test begins as the Lilywhites come to town eager to take the sting out of the Hornets.

Both sides have started the new season with aplomb and Watford are the surprise side proving their doubters wrong with three wins from three.

However, Tottenham are the first ‘top four’ opponents the Hornets will have faced this season making for a different prospect entirely.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side are also yet to taste defeat having summarily dispatched Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Watford themselves have a nervy affair away at Reading in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night meaning a 1-1 draw against one another would keep both sets of fans and managers relatively happy.

Betting Tips

It is hard to find a reason to disagree with this bet as both sides are yet to fail to score in a match this season.

Watford have Roberto Pereyra on form with three goals from his three games this season and Tottenham’s Harry Kane is on the scoresheet for the first time this early in a Premier League campaign making goals a sure thing.

At those odds, that is a bet that must be strongly considered.

The Hornets have managed seven goals so far this season in their three outings and five of them have come in the second 45.

Expect Tottenham to take the lead as three of their five strikes have come in the first half but Watford to rescue a point late on.

Head to Head

If you are a Watford fan you may not want to read this bit.

May 1987 was the last time the Hornets registered a home win over Tottenham and October 1994 the last time a win was recorded against Spurs at White Hart Lane in the League Cup.

Ten defeats and three draws have followed since that 94 League Cup victory over the Lilywhites although the Hornets did manage a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road last season in the Premier League but did lose at Wembley 2-0 back in April.

  • Watford have recorded their best ever start to a top-flight season with three wins from three.
  • Hornets forward Roberto Pereyra managed just five goals in 32 Premier League games last season but already has three in three this campaign.
  • Tottenham have not lost to Watford in the League since 1987 and not lost in all competitions since 1994.
  • Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has only made four saves this season which is the lowest number for sides that have played three matches so far.
