Tottenham Hotspur vs Barcelona: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Wednesday October 3rd, 2018, 14:00 UTC-5
Wembley Stadium London
Arguably the most eagerly anticipated encounter of the week sees Spanish champions Barcelona head to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham will host Barcelona at Wembley knowing that on the Catalans’ last away trip they lost to lowly Leganes in the league.
That will breed confidence in a Spurs side who has gotten off to a poor start in the Champions League with a late loss to Inter Milan despite looking in control for much of the game.
The game will be tense, attacking and full of quality as Mauricio Pochettino aims to silence his doubters and prove his Tottenham side deserve their space among the cream of Europe.
Spurs have also had success against Spanish sides recently defeating Barcelona’s great rivals 3-1 in the group stage last season and taking a 1-1 draw in Madrid and with the slate wiped clean may fancy something of an upset.
However, Barcelona’s quality is undeniable and with recent domestic dominance in the bag, the Barca board have made it clear that toppling Real’s European dominance is a must.
Expect a high attacking game but both sides to impress in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
- Both teams to score
That price may be odds against, but it is equally almost as good as money in the bank.
The attacking quality on the pitch is undeniable as is the fact that Spurs have not failed to score in a game this season and neither have Barcelona.
- Tottenham or draw double
Admittedly Barcelona may be favourites for the match but at 10/11 for that result it makes sense to get two possible outcomes at the same odds.
Tottenham beat Real Madrid comprehensively at Wembley last season and after their Leganes loss, Barcelona do not look at their best.

Head to Head
The pair have only ever met twice before.
That was during the semi-final of the 1981/82 European Cup Winners Cup.
A 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane set the second leg up nicely at Barcelona’s Nou Camp and a solitary Barca strike ensured it was the Catalan side who progressed to the final 2-1 on aggregate.
Barcelona then went on to win the final beating Standard Liege 2-1.
- Both sides are yet to fail to score in a competitive game this season.
- If Gerard Pique plays for Barcelona it will be his 100th Champions League appearance.
- Lionel Messi has scored a remarkable twenty goals against English opposition in just twenty-eight outings.
- Barcelona sit top of group B after beating PSV 4-1 whilst Spurs are third after a 2-1 loss at Inter Milan.
- Tottenham lost to Barcelona in the semi-final of the 1981/82 European Cup Winners Cup 2-1 on aggregate but have never lost to the Catalans on home soil.
