Despite the dominance of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Nashville Predators were the first to clinch a playoff spot this season. But, it didn’t take the Bolts long to seal their playoff spot, which came on March 18. The two teams have been showing their Stanley Cup credentials over the last few weeks, with the Lightning at +450 and Nashville at +500 to win it all with the best NHL bookmakers.
In the Atlantic Division, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs look to have their places in the postseason all but tied up. Toronto is at +650 to win in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Washington Capitals look to remain on top of the Metropolitan Division, but the Philadelphia Flyers or Pittsburgh Penguins could slip to the wild card places.
The Vegas Golden Knights dominate the Pacific Division and will clinch very soon. To continue their fairytale start to life in the NHL, Vegas is at +475 to win in the Western Conference Finals. The Winnipeg Jets look set to keep a hold of their second-place standing in the Central Division.
In the Eastern Conference, the Columbus Blue Jackets have gone on an unprecedented eight-game winning streak. At +1300 to win in the Eastern Conference Finals, they may yet sneak into a Metropolitan place. If the New Jersey Devils don’t pick up some wins soon, the Florida Panthers will steal their place.
Everything’s up in the air in the Western Conference. Either the San Jose Sharks or Los Angeles Kings could slip down into the wild card scrap if the Anaheim Ducks surge. Also battling for the Western wild card are the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues.
Playing for Lottery Odds
A recent three-game losing streak appears to have bumped the Calgary Flames from the wild card battle. The Carolina Hurricanes appear to have slipped out of the chase following a poor run of form as well.
As for lottery odds, the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes, and Vancouver Canucks lead the odds to get the first overall selection.
