Senegal vs Colombia Preview, Tips and Betting Predictions

World Cup SENEGAL COLOMBIA

Senegal produced one of the World Cup’s standout moments when beating France in their opening game of the 2002 tournament but the Lions of Teranga have made little impact since. They qualified with relative ease and will have been pleased to find themselves in Group H. It’s a hugely competitive section but every match looks winnable for Aliou Cisse’s men. They end their campaign against Colombia and if they can take three points from this game, they stand a realistic chance of qualifying for the knock-out rounds. Los Cafeteros were fantastic in 2014 and cruised through the group stage and they will be aiming for a similar outcome once again. There is set to be plenty at stake in this potentially decisive Group H encounter.

Group H Winner

Head to Head

These sides have only previously met on one occasion. They played one another in an international friendly back in 2014 with the two teams playing out a hugely-entertaining draw. Colombia raced into a two-goal lead but were pegged back in the second half. Senegal went down to 10 men but managed to hold on.

Colombia 2-2 Senegal – 31/05/2014

Key Players

Senegal

Sadio Mane – The Liverpool striker is capable of lighting up this tournament and is likely to find the net during the group stage. He has explosive pace and power which Senegal will look to use throughout the competition. He netted in the final of the Champions League and is clearly full of confidence. He could run rings around the Colombian defence.

Colombia

James Rodriguez – The Bayern Munich player had a terrific tournament in 2014 and although he hasn’t been as productive in recent months, there are signs of a return to form. He clearly relishes knock-out football and enjoys the freedom given to him by Jose Pekerman. He could have a huge say in determining the outcome of Group H.
