Houston Rockets at Indiana Pacers: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Monday November 5th, 7:00 pm ET
Bankers Life Fieldhouse
Dipo put the Pacers over Boston on Saturday night with a dagger at the end of regulation. The Rockets hope to continue on a two-game win streak after, looking like the leagues most disappointing team to start the season.
The Rockets have impressed over the past two games, albeit against less than stellar competition. They topped both the Bulls and Nets, while finally figuring out how to incorporate Carmelo Anthony into their offense. Anthony went for 45 points combined over said contest, after scoring double digits in six of his other eight games this season.
The Pacers are here, and they are here to stay. Offensively, Indiana presents matchup issues at every level. Myles Turner is a near seven foot big man who can pull your defender to the arc, and Victor Oladipo has cemented himself as a 20 point scorer in this league while demonstrating that he has ice in his veins when it comes to crunch time. As impressive as they are offensively, their defense has been just as good. Suffocating oppositions’ offenses all season, the Pacers have surrendered the 4th fewest points on a per-game basis.
The Rockets are hoping they’ve finally figured things out, but I bet they were hoping they could have had an easier matchup to test that theory. Pacers forward Bojan Bogdanovic has been on fire from the arc, draining more than 50 percent of his shots, while his Indiana teammates have been just as good shooting the ball, ranking 4th in team shooting percentage. Reigning MVP and Rockets guard, James Harden, is notorious for drawing fouls, yet the Pacers allow teams less than 20 free throw attempts per game, ranking tops in the league.
Score prediction: Indiana Pacers Win 108-104
- Houston Rockets at Indiana Pacers: Take Indiana Pacers (SU)
The Rockets posses one of the worst defensive rosters in all of basketball. James Harden will be beat by Victor Oladipo on multiple occasions. Oladipo has scored 20 points in 9 consecutive games, and will have no struggle reaching that mark against Harden and the Rockets. Oladipo’s offensive output, combined with Myles Turner and Bogdanovic’s ability to stretch the floor, will be too much for the struggling Rockets to overcome.
Indiana ranks 22nd in ppg with 107.9, while Houston comes in at 25th, with 106.3 ppg. The Rockets have scored less than 97 points in two of their past three games. Indiana surrenders the 4th least ppg with an average of 102.7. It will be an offensive struggle come Monday night.
