SEA Seahawks at LA Rams: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Sunday November 11th, 4:25 PM (ET),
LA Memorial Coliseum
A victory would move Seattle only two games behind LA for the division lead, but the Rams will be looking to get back on track after suffering their first loss of the season a week ago.
The Seahawks were riding high, carrying a two game win streak into their home stadium a week ago, only to be put down by the “other” Los Angeles team. Seattle lost their bell-cow early on in the contest as Chris Carson, and his nearly 24 touches a game (over the past 4 contests), left the game after only registering eight touches, due to a hip injury. Mike Davis stepped in admirably for Carson, but Russell Wilson’s lack of talent at the receiver position was not enough to put the Hawks past the Chargers.
The Rams fought their way back last Sunday, but to no avail, as they suffered a 45-35 point loss, their first loss on the season, to the Saints. The Rams offense was its usual explosive self, Todd Gurley averaged of five yards a pop, and they had two receivers register over 88 yards and a touchdown each. Where the Rams have cause for concern is their defense. Drew Brees toyed with a secondary that is in obvious need of restoring Aqib Talib back in the lineup, to the tune of 346 yards and 4 touchdowns. Michael Thomas, specifically, had a huge day, topping the 200-yard receiving mark, and then pulling out his cell phone to tell everyone about it.
The Rams defense is a serious issue. They’ve now surrendered at least 27 points in four contests, and over 30 points in three. This shouldn’t reoccur on Sunday, as the Seahawks’ lack of firepower should do Seattle in. Expect to see the Rams involve Todd Gurley early and often, coming off a game where he was underused (13 rush attempts), Gurley should devour a defense who yielded 113 yards and a 7.1 ypc average to Melvin Gordon just a week ago. Seattle’s combined faults of injuries, and inferior talent, will be too much to overcome in Los Angeles.
Score prediction: Rams win 38-24
Ten points is a lot to give up, but the Rams have won half of their victories this season by at least ten points. Seattle is dealing with injuries, and lacks any true threat out wide. Seattle struggled defending the run last week, and gets the reigning offensive player of the year this week. LA will prove they are still elite, and eliminate any doubt from peoples minds.
It’s easy to get lost in the Rams taking their first “L” of the season, but they still put up 35 points, the 6th time they’ve put up at least 33 points this year. The Rams rank third in the NFL in ppg, and number one in total offense. Add in the fact that LA has had their struggles defensively, meaning Seattle will be adding to the total. The score is almost a certainty to hit the over.
