Philadelphia Eagles Vs New York Giants: Predictions, Betting Tips & Statistics
Thursday, October 11th, 8:20 pm Eastern Time
The Giants are coming off a gut-wrenching defeat at the hand of the Carolina Panthers, while Philadelphia is now only 1-2 since Carson Wentz has returned to the lineup. Both teams gear up for what could be a make-or-break game on Thursday night.
The Giants seemed to finally get things clicking after putting up 30 points on offense for the first time in over two years, only to lose on a miraculous 63-yard field goal as time expired.
The Eagles on the other hand, struggled throughout the majority of their week 5 game vs. Minnesota. Though Philly made a late 4th quarter push, scoring 15 of their 21 points in the final 15 minutes, it wasn’t enough, and they suffered their third loss on the not so young season.
Philly’s offense should get things moving come Thursday, especially facing off against a Giants defense that has surrendered 30+ points in back-to-back weeks. The G-Men have only had to contend with the bottom feeders of the NFL when it comes to tight end talent thus far this season. That will not be the case this time around. Zach Ertz comes into town with an absurd 20 receptions and 222 yards over the last two games, and should continue his dominance against a line-backing corp & secondary that has had their struggles this season.
Odell Beckham finally found the end zone last week, twice if you count his touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley. Beckham should pad his stats this week, facing off against a Philly secondary that has surrendered an abysmal average of 125 yards to teams number 1 receivers thus far this season. Defensively, Snacks Harrison and an impressive young core of d-lineman should swallow up an Eagles run game that has dipped from 3rd in the league in 2017 to middle of the pack this season.
Expect a close and contested battle all night, but while this game means a lot to the Eagles, another loss for the Giants likely means their season is over.
- Score prediction: Giants win 30-28
- Eagles (-3) at Giants (+3) Via 888sport: Take Giants (+3)
Besides a week 3 defeat at the hands of the Saints, the Giants have kept every other game close this season, to the tune of a 4.7-averaged score difference over their other 4 games. The Eagles have struggled mightily in coverage this season, and their rush offense hasn’t been much better. I’ll take the Giants with home field advantage and 3 points.
- Over/Under 45 pts. Via 888sport: Take the Over
While both teams rank 24th and 25th respectfully in ppg thus far this season, their defenses have given up a combined averaged of 23.2 ppg. Odell can easily eclipse 130 yards receiving, while Carson Wentz should finally look like the MVP caliber signal caller we all remember him to be. The Giants may reach the 30-point mark two weeks in a row, and Philly shouldn’t be far behind.
