Tip – Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Boston, and 1-10 in their last 11 games when playing Boston on the road. Joel Embiid will likely dominate down in the paint against a frontcourt of Boston that is fairly undersized when compared to Embiid’s imposing frame. Speaking of imposing frame, Boston will likely roll Kyrie Irving off of 6’10” point guard Ben Simmons in half court defensive situations in favor of a larger Marcus Smart, or Jaylen Brown. Boston gets back Gordon Hayward, who missed all but 1 game a season ago. Hayward was once thought of as Boston’s go-to-scorer, and re-enters a lineup where he shouldn’t be asked to do as much, as Boston’s roster may be the deepest in all of basketball. Philly’s stars should keep the game close, but expects Boston’s depth, and Kyrie’s first step speed, to help the Celtics pull away at the end.

Tip – Russell Westbrook plays with unparalleled intensity, but it’s turned up a notch when his former teammate Kevin Durant is in the building. It’s hard to picture the reigning champs be defeated on opening night, after all, they’ve won 125 games over the past 2 regular seasons. Still, expect a huge night from Westbrook. The walking triple-double will likely fill out the stat sheet, but Golden State is simply too talented. While the combo of Westbrook and Paul George likely won’t be enough to hand the champs a defeat, they should be able to stay within 10 points. OKC is only 2-9 ATS in its last 11 games vs. Golden State, however they are 4-2 in their last 6 road games, and should continue that trend on opening night.
