Manchester United vs Reading: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Saturday 5 January 2019, 7:30 am
It’s likely Manchester United’s best chance at a trophy this season whilst Reading will want to forget their Championship woes with a potential FA Cup run.
Giant killings have defined the FA Cup’s rich history and become a central talking point whenever big teams enter the competition in early January. Whenever a side such as Manchester United are involved, the potential of a giant killing is bound to be discussed. However, considering their opponents, it seems unlikely.
Jose Manuel Gomes’ Reading are languishing second from bottom with just 20 points from 25 games. The FA Cup may well be an escape as it has been for a number of relegation threatened sides in recent years.
It does appear to be an unlikely possibility though, with Reading possessing the fifth worst goals scored record and the eighth worst goals conceded record. United, of course, are Premier League giants who have been revitalised in recent weeks, with scorelines of 5-1, 3-1 and 4-1. The gulf in class should be enough to see them through – 3-0 United.
- Manchester United to win to nil
There’s a few factors that combine to make this a pretty fantastic bet with UK betting sites. Solskjaer has revitalised Manchester United in his few games in management and the gulf in player ability should shine through in this one. Also consider that Reading have failed to scored in four of their last six games against United, it should be a win and a clean sheet.
- Manchester United -2 Handicap
The FA Cup is United’s last real chance at a trophy this season, given they have to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, so it’s likely they take the competition seriously. It’s also likely they put out a strong side to try and guarantee a result, it could be a landslide.
