Man. United vs PSG: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Tuesday February 12, 2019, 15:00
Round of 16, Leg 1/2
Manchester United welcome Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and company to Old Trafford for one of the stand out ties of the Champions League.
A lot has changed since Manchester United qualified for the Champions League Round of 16. Jose Mourinho has left and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has returned a spirit of adventure back to Old Trafford. The Norwegian caretaker boss will be getting his first taste of the competition with the visit of Paris Saint-Germain and will believe that his young side can take the game to the French champions and get a result.
Neymar will be missing for PSG and although the entire squad is full of international stars, the Brazilian forward will be hugely missed as he is usually at the centre of everything his side does. PSG have recently lost their first game of the season but will still think that they can get a good enough result at Old Trafford to see them through in the second leg.
Solskjaer has made a near-perfect start to life as United boss but this is by far the hardest test up until now. There is a new sense of belief around Old Trafford now though and whereas this tie would have seemed easy to predict when the draw was made, things have changed greatly since then.
All the popular betting sites are still favouring a PSG victory over the two legs but United will have noticed that their French opponents are at their weakest when faced with a fast attacking side who are not afraid to run at them. They may not get through the tie but United could win this 2-1.
Manchester United to win and both teams to score
This looks like it could be a really exciting match with both sides full of talent. If PSG play the same way they did against Liverpool then United may be able to control this fixture.
Edinson Cavani to score at any time
Neymar isn’t playing – and without him it is usually Kylian Mbappe that gets all the attention. But Edinson Cavani has proved himself year after year.

Head to Head
These two sides have never met each other before.
Even in what was dubbed a group of death – including both Napoli and Liverpool – PSG were the top goal scorers in qualifying for the knock out rounds with 17 goals.
Although they have a rich Champions League history, Manchester United have not reached the quarter finals of the competition since 2014.
Paris Saint-Germain’s owners crave Champions League success over anything else but they have not reached the quarter finals for three years and were knocked out at this stage last season by Real Madrid.
It is not something that Manchester United are usually known for but only Young Boys, Tottenham and Porto committed more fouls than the Old Trafford side in the group stage.
