Los Angeles Rams Vs San Francisco 49ers: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Sunday, 21 October 2018, 4:25 pm Eastern Time
The Rams take their undefeated record on the road into San Francisco, to face off with a 49ers team who just went down to the wire with Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
The 49er hopefuls must be extremely disappointed by that heart-wrenching defeat at the hands of Aaron Rodgers Monday night, and understandably so. They showed the world, in a primetime game, that just because Jimmy Garoppolo may be done for the season doesn’t mean they’re just some team you look over on your schedule. Wideout Marquise Goodwin returned from injury in a big way, to the tune of 146 yards and two touchdowns from 67 yards and 30 yards out. Running back Matt Brieda surprised everyone when he was announced as active for the game, and while he scored a touchdown, fellow running back Raheem Mostert was the more impressive back, averaging 7.2 yards on 12 carries.
Los Angeles has continued their winning ways, but they aren’t blowing people out the way they were early in the season. Over the last three games they have won by an average of only 4 points. Jared Goff is coming off of maybe his most disappointing game since the Jeff Fisher era, and Cooper Kupp and his 5 receiving touchdowns will most likely miss this game with a knee injury.
Todd Gurley is coming off a 200 yard rushing performance, and is well on his way to another offensive player of the year award. San Francisco’s 20th ranked defense should struggle to stop Gurley in the rushing game, as well as in the passing game. Brandin Cooks speed should be a huge asset working against the lankier, but stiffer corners of San Francisco. Overall, no one expects San Fran to pull off the upset, but they will keep it interesting.
Score prediction: Rams win 30-23
The 49ers may have lost three games in a row, but the average defeat margin was only 5 points, while LA has won their last 3 games by a combined average of 4 points. CJ Beathard just went toe to toe with Aaron Rodgers on national TV, and gets a beat up Rams secondary this week. Look for speedster Marquise Goodwin to get over the top of LA defense on multiple occasions.
The Rams are averaging nearly 33 points offensively on the season, but have also surrendered over 26 ppg in their last 4 outings, and over 30 points in two of those games. The 49ers are coming off a 30-point game of their own, and averaged a respectable 24.7 ppg on the season.
