The Magpies go in search of an almighty shock as Steve Bruce looks to curry some favour with Newcastle fans whilst Jurgen Klopp targets the maintenance of his sides 100% record.
Goals have rarely been in short supply when these two meet. In fact, last season, the pair scored a total of nine goals in just two Premier League games was the result and both times over 3.5 goals were scored in the game. Popular sportsbooks are aware of the history of the two but the higher up the scoring charts you go the more value there is to be had. Also, only once in the Liverpool’s four games in the league so far have they failed to score at least three meaning over 3.5 goals in the game is the way to go.
OVER 3.5 GOALS
The Reds ended last season with the tightest defence in the league and after four games this season have only conceded three times. However, perhaps more importantly, Liverpool have kept a clean sheet against the Magpies in three of the last four times they have met them at Anfield. Already this season Newcastle have shipped six goals in the league with three of those coming in one game on the road (v Norwich). That is one of the reasons why online betting sites favour Liverpool for the win so heavily and also why backing the Reds to win to nil is one of the best way to get value from an outright Liverpool win.
LIVERPOOL TO WIN TO NIL
We have covered Liverpool’s scoring exploits, but it simply cannot be ignored, especially when there is value to be had by exploiting it and Newcastle’s ongoing predicament. Yes, the Magpies may look slightly more a team under Steve Bruce than many may have expected but the internal rot is still poisoning the club leaving it often exposed. The reds also hammered Newcastle the last time they visited Anfield and with 12 goals to their name already this season, expect a rested Liverpool to make an example of the Magpies.
LIVERPOOL WIN BY 4 OR MORE GOALS
Head to Head
Liverpool enjoyed inflicting the double on Newcastle last season with a 4-0 home win before travelling to the North East and winning 3-2. 2015 was the last time the Magpies recorded victory over the Reds in a 2-0 win in the Premier League. However, Newcastle have not won at Anfield since November 1995 and then that was in the League Cup. Overall, Liverpool have won 85 times with Newcastle recording 50 wins and a total of 42 draws.
Liverpool to win 4-0
Everything points to a Liverpool win and it would be foolish not to expect it, especially if you are thinking of including it in an accumulator. 1994 is the last time Newcastle won a league game at Anfield whilst the last time they did travel to Liverpool, they were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thumping. Expect more of the same with the rampant reds out to stake another claim as title elects.
