Every game is a must win for Liverpool now as they continue to put the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

Liverpool have been the team in control for the majority of the season but some betting sites still believe that Manchester City will come through at the end to take the title. Another three points for Liverpool at home to Burnley will mean that the onus is on Pep Guardiola’s side to keep up with the pace.

From looking like relegation certainties at the end of December, Burnley have turned things around dramatically and now look like they will be safe in May. A recent eight game unbeaten streak was ended by Newcastle but Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood in particular have been on fire up front for the Turf Moor club since the start of the year.

Liverpool face Spurs and Chelsea at home before the end of the season but will be confident that they can pick up all three points in those matches with the Anfield crowd behind them. A victory over a resurgent Burnley will also be expected as the title race promises to go right down to the last day.

Burnley’s owners can be credited with not overreacting and getting rid of Sean Dyche when the side were not performing earlier in the season. The Clarets’ boss has been at the club since 2012 and the players seem to want to play for him. Any result away at Liverpool will be a bonus however – and a 4-1 home win is not inconceivable here.

Head To Head

Burnley have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield in any competition since the 1974/75 season – and lost 3-1 at Turf Moor earlier this season.

  • Liverpool may have been scoring goals for fun this season – especially at home – but they still fall way short of Manchester City’s total.
  • Burnley’s defensive problems have dictated their league position this season. No club outside the bottom three has conceded more goals in the league.
  • Liverpool have scored 18 goals in their last five home Premier League matches – and one of those was a disappointing 1-1 draw with Leicester.
  • Although they have only had one man sent off in the Premier League this season, Burnley have received the most yellow cards.
