Arsenal lost both of their opening games last season but have won both this time around and will be eager to prove they can match it with the leagues elite once again as they head north to face one of the title favourites in Liverpool.
As Liverpool finished 27 points ahead of the Gunners last season, it is not hard to see why the Reds are such big favourites with online sportsbooks to get the match win. However, the Liverpool outright win offers little value in its own right (especially as the match is at Anfield) which is why extending the bet to both teams to finding the score sheet AND Liverpool is the way to go. Six of the last seven meetings between the two have seen both teams score whilst five of Arsenal’s last six visits to Anfield has seen them find the back of the net. That makes this a great value bet with popular betting sites.
LIVERPOOL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
The pair have a history of putting on thrilling Premier League encounters. Last season alone the league head to heads witnessed eight goals. To back this up further, there has only been one 0-0 draw this millennium in all competitions and six of the last seven meetings has seen four or more goals scored in the game, Liverpool has started the campaign on form once again with six goals in their two Premier League games meaning we should be on for a goal fest once more.
OVER 3.5 GOALS IN THE GAME
Liverpool have proven this season (although it is still early) that they are susceptible to a lapse of concentration in the second half. This has been evident against both Norwich and Southampton in which both scored the last goal of the game. Two of the Gunners goals so far this season have come in the second half.
ARSENAL TO SCORE OVER 0.5 GOALS IN THE SECOND HALF
Head to Head
Liverpool enjoyed a 5-1 thumping of the Gunners last season at Anfield. A Roberto Firmino ensured Arsenal headed home with their tail between their legs although did take a point out of the Reds at the Emirates a month earlier in a 1-1 draw to dent Liverpool’s title charge.
Overall, Liverpool has claimed 87 victories over Arsenal with the Gunners claiming 78 and a total of 61 draws.
Liverpool to win 3-1
The Reds already average three goals a game this season and although the season is only two games deep, Liverpool are continuing their trend of scoring goals galore over from the last campaign. With Salah already on the scoresheet this season as well as Arsenal’s Aubangmeyang, one thing there will be no shortage of is goals with Liverpool making three wins from three whilst still seeking their first clean sheet.
