King Stand’s Stakes winner Lady Aurelia is set to make a return to action at the 2017 Ebor Festival at York in the Nunthorpe Stakes, which is a Group One contest run over 5f and part of the British Champions Sprint Series. Wesley Ward’s runner was too fast for her rivals at Royal Ascot as she quickened strongly inside the final furlong of the leading sprint race to go away from the field to finish three lengths ahead of Profitable. Rather than travel back to the USA, the three-year-old-filly has remained in the UK and is set to the see the flat season out in Europe. It will be the American horse’s first trip to York for the Ebor Meeting where she is the hot +150 favourite in the horse racing betting to prevail for the third time in three starts in 2017. The biggest threat to Lady Aurelia at York is likely to come from Battassh, who has also had an excellent campaign so far. Charles Hills’ sprinter ran a career-best performance on his latest run, where he won the Group Two King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. That success in Sussex brought up his third straight victory and proved he is versatile as he has now delivered on soft and firm ground. Marsha is set to lead the charge from the older horses and connections of the horse will be hoping their horse can return to form at York. The four-year-old was third behind Battaash at Goodwood but has already won in 2017 as he was victorious in the Group Three Palace House Stakes at Newmarket back in May. The Group One Nunthorpe Stakes takes place on August 25 and is the feature race on day three of the 2017 Ebor Meeting on the Knavesmire at York.
