KC Chiefs at SEA Seahawks Week 16: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Sunday 12/23 8:20 PM (ET),
The Seahawks looked to be turning the corner on their way to true title contenders, only to be upset by the ‘9ers a week ago. They’ll look to get back to their winning ways against the Chiefs, who are now 2-2 over their past four games.
The Seahawks seemed to have it all figured out, winning their previous two games by a grand total of 41 points. Then they made the short travel to the bay, only to be upset by their division rival 49ers. Seattle’s defense, which dominated the $84 million dollar man, Kirk Cousins, just a week prior, laid a dud against Nick Mullins this time around. Mullins finished with a 110.6 passer rating, the second best mark of his career. Seattle did strive on the offensive side of the ball. They were ground dependant as usual, as their NFL-best rushing attack garnered 168 yards rushing.
The Chiefs are coming off a heart breaking loss, which could have huge implications come playoff time. KC’s defense, much like it has all season, failed them a week ago. They allowed three total touchdowns to Mike Williams, which is as many touchdowns as Williams had scored total, in the six weeks prior. A bright spot in the loss was the emergence of Damien Williams in the backfield. Williams showed true dual-threat ability vs. LA, amassing 123 total yards and two touchdowns. Williams likely played himself into a key role down the stretch.
Pat Mahomes will pick apart any secondary, and Seattle’s is no different. Yet, while Mahomes will accumulate yardage, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will lead to a KC victory. The Seahawks seem like a tough matchup for the Chiefs. Seattle will play the ground and pound game for 60 minutes come Sunday night, and should have success doing so. Kansas City is just 26th against the run this season. This means the time of possession will likely lean in the ‘Hawks favor. The less time Mahomes is on the field, the better for Seattle’s chances of capturing a victory.
Score prediction: Seahawks win 28-27
The Seahawks are at home this week, where they are 4-2 on the season. Seattle has lost only two games by more then 2.5 points since week two. The Chiefs are 2-2 in their past four games, in which Patrick Mahomes has turned the ball over six times. Kansas City is now 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games.
Take the under in a Chiefs game? Am I insane? Kansas City, who averaged 37 ppg in their first 12 games of the season, has averaged just 27.5 ppg over their last two games. Seattle has surrendered only 19.4 ppg in their last five games.
