Kansas City Chiefs Vs Pittsburgh Steelers: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Sunday, September 16, 1:00 pm Eastern Time
Stadium Heinz Field
Pat Mahomes and his Chiefs look to stay hot against a Pittsburgh team bombarded with question marks.
Pat Mahomes shut up his doubters in week 1, tossing 4 TDs in a victory over a vaunted LA Charger defense. Mahomes was aided by Tyreek Hill and his nearly 270 yards from scrimmage. Pittsburgh, like most teams, doesn’t seem to have an answer when it comes to manning up Hill. The Steelers gave up two plays over 35 yards a week ago, don’t be surprised to see Hill have that in one half.
Le’Veon Bell has been removed from the Steelers official depth chart, meaning James Conner will get a second start at running back. While Conner excelled in Pittsburgh’s week 1 tie, he was one of their only bright spots. Ben Roethlisberger struggled out the gates on the way to a 3 interception, 2 fumble outing. Ben’s o-line was no help, forfeiting 4 sacks and allowing constant pressure on Big Ben all game. They will be tested once again with All-Pro Justin Houston coming off the edge.
While Juju Smith-Schuster broke the 100-yard mark in week 1, yards may be tougher to come by this week. He’ll be matched up with slot-man Kendall Fuller, one of the best in the league at his position.
The Steelers will have their hands full vs. a talented front 7 for the Chiefs, and you can’t expect James Conner to play the way he did vs. Cleveland week in and week out. Look for K.C. to get Tyreek Hill involved early and often, especially on a few go routes, testing Pittsburgh’s young safeties.
Score prediction: Chiefs win 31-24
Pittsburgh has too many question marks across their roster, while the Le’Veon Bell holdout is a blatant distraction. While James Conner was amazing in week 1, the Steelers are asking a lot from a guy who carried the ball 1 time less a week ago than he did all last season.
Pittsburgh wont be able to keep up with the speed of K.C.’s offense. Mahomes should have a field day working against an unproven Steelers secondary.
Kansas City’s offense is a big play waiting to happen, and Tyreek Hill looks like he may be making a push for Offensive Player of the Year.
If KC’s passing game is as effective as believed to be, Pittsburgh will have to ditch the run game early, looking for their two stud receivers. This should lead to yardage and garbage time touchdowns, to keep the game looking closer than it actually was.
