IND Colts at KC Chiefs: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Saturday 1/12 4:35 PM (ET)
The Colts travel to Arrowhead to face off with the AFC’s number one seed, the Kansas City Chiefs. This is an unparalleled matchup between two QB’s that combined for 89 touchdown passes in the regular season, the most between two QB’s in a playoff matchup ever.
The Colts played the most complete game of any NFL team on Wild Card weekend. Indianapolis’ defense shut out Houston’s offense for three quarters, and surrendered just seven points when it was all said and done. Andrew Luck made throws that few others in this league could make, and is finally accompanied by a skill group and o-line that compliments his talents. Marlon Mack has been a revelation in his second NFL season. Since week six, Mack is the 4th leading rusher in all of football, and that doesn’t count the 148-yard performance he put forth a week ago.
Everyone knows Kansas City is talented. They posses the most explosive offense in football, behind Patrick Mahomes and his 50 touchdown passes. The issue at hand is not the Chief passing game, but rather a .500 finish in the final four games of the regular season, combined with a questionable run game and a horrendous defense. Kansas City starting running backs have eclipsed 75+ yards rushing only once in their past nine games. Their defense, the second to last ranked unit in all of football, surrendered an average of 30.1 ppg in their final eight contests of the regular season.
The Colts offense is hitting on all cylinders, while the Chiefs defense can’t stop a nosebleed. Patrick Mahomes is the new golden boy of the NFL, and rightfully so. Yet Andrew Luck at one time was bestowed with that same honor, until injuries derailed his once-promising career. Now, in 2019, Luck is back on top of the football world. Luck will enter the Kansas City game with his best supporting cast of all time, and recapture his throne as a future all-time great.
