Greece welcome Italy to the Olympiako Stadio in Athens on Saturday night for this Euro 2020 qualifying match.
Greece sit in second place in Euro 2020 qualifying Group J on four points, two behind leaders Italy who they play on Saturday. The Greeks beat Liechtenstein 2-0 in their opening game, then followed that up with a 2-2 draw away to Bosnia & Herzegovina. Their last fixture was a 2-1 defeat in Turkey in a friendly international played on Thursday night. Greece have won just one of their last four matches which was that victory over little Liechtenstein.
Italy are sitting on top of the group on six points, with two wins from two. A 2-0 win at home against Finland kicked off their qualifying journey and they followed that up with a 6-0 victory also at home over Liechtenstein. The Azzurri are now on a six-game unbeaten run which includes four wins and two draws.
Greece finished third in their Nations League C group on nine points, behind Finland and Hungary but ahead of Estonia who were relegated to League D. The Greeks beat Hungary and Finland 1-0 at home before losing their final home fixture 1-0 against Estonia. They beat Estonia 1-0 away, but lost their road games with Hungary 2-1 and Finland 2-0.
Italy came second in their Nations League A group on five points three behind table toppers Portugal who face Switzerland in the Semi-finals this week, but ahead of Poland who were relegated to League B. The Italians drew 1-1 at home to Poland in their first game, then lost 1-0 at home to Portugal, before beating the Poles 1-0 away and drawing 1-1 at home with Portugal. A 2-0 win for Italy is well worth a shout.
