France vs Argentina Predictions

Other Bookmakers

Neither of these two sides have covered themselves in glory so far with both France and Argentina putting in some underwhelming performances at the tournament. Les Bleus finished top of Group C after collecting seven points from nine and remaining unbeaten in their opening three matches. Didier Deschamps’ side have plenty of attacking talent but they’ve netted just three times so far and played out an insipid 0-0 draw with Denmark in the final group match. Argentina were heading for an early exit until Marcos Rojo’s late winner helped book their place in the round of 16. Jorge Sampaoli’s side haven’t particularly deserved to progress and they will need to improve considerably in this game. France have the better defensive record so far in Russia and that should just about give them the edge here. They are available at 2.36 with 888Sport and should qualify for the quarter-finals.

France vs Argentina Preview

France came into this tournament as one of the favourites and they’ve made it through to the last 16 with minimum fuss. They have plenty of attacking talent with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud in their squad but finding the most effective system to accommodate them has proven troublesome so far. They have netted three times in three games but will need to improve their strike-rate if they are going to make it to the final.

Argentina have suffered from defensive lapses throughout the tournament and their 2-1 victory over Nigeria has given them a temporary reprieve. They were hopeless against Croatia and their lack of leadership at the back has seen them concede five times in three matches. Luckily, they have Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero leading the line and they always look dangerous moving forward. They may not be the most cohesive of units but their individual stars can often dig them out of a tight spot.

Both Teams to Score Prediction

Other Bookmakers

Argentina are yet to keep a clean sheet and they conceded another sloppy penalty against Nigeria. The Super Eagles had a number of chances to add a second but couldn’t keep their composure and paid a heavy price. France are likely to take those opportunities and they should be able to get on the scoresheet. France may have kept two clean sheets so far but this is a much tougher ask. Peru missed a number of chances but Argentina are unlikely to be so profligate. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 2.20 with William Hill.

France vs Argentina Correct Score Prediction

France have hardly been free-scoring at this tournament but they are likely to get a few opportunities in this game. Argentina’s generous defending is likely to result in Les Bleus bagging a couple of goals here. The Albiceleste will also be confident of finding a way through the French defence and Sampaoli’s side have already netted three times at the tournament. 2-1 France looks like a realistic outcome and can be backed at 10.00 with Sports Interaction.
