England vs Czech Republic: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Gareth Southgate’s England begin their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a home tie against a Czech Republic side eager to re-live past glories.
The Three Lions of England may be the side who reached the last four of last summer’s World Cup and may be about to embark on a Nations League semi-final, but the visiting Czech side boast something England can only dream of: a European Championship title.
Admittedly, the Czech’s 1976 came under the guise of Czechoslovakia, but a win is a win and the side have shown their credentials on the global stage ever since with a runners-up spot at Euro 96 – ironically hosted by England.
The Euros are where the Czech’s shine and that makes Jaroslav Šilhavý’s side a real threat in the qualifying phase.
However, those past glories may be well behind the Czech Republic now as no World Cup campaign since 2006 and two defeats and a draw at the European Championships in France can testify.
Not for their opponents though as the Three Lions are finally starting to deliver on all of their promise. England have won four of their last five games, drawing the other, including three wins on home soil.
Understandably, that makes England big favourites with top betting sites to get their campaign off to the perfect start and having won on the Czech Republic’s only visit to face England at Wembley, expect the home side to continue where they left off in 2018 and secure a 2-1 victory in front of the Wembley crowd.
Both teams to score
This is a bet not to be missed when it comes to value with online sportsbooks. The Czech Republic have scored in four of their last five away games whilst England conceded in their last game at Wembley.
England to win and both teams to score
An extension of the above bet as England has never lost in two previous meetings with the Czech Republic and are unbeaten in their last five matches while the Czech Republic has lost three and won three of their last six.

Head to Head

- This will be just the third meeting between the two sides and first game outside of a friendly.
- England are unbeaten in their last five games.
- In 1976, the Czech’ won the European Championships under the guise of Czechoslovakia.
- Both sides reached the last four of Euro 96 with the Czech Republic making it to the final.
