Group C – Yekaterinburg – TV: TSN
It’s all to play for in Group C and Denmark will be confident of potentially following France into the round of 16. They looked well-organised during their play-off match with the Republic of Ireland and will be hoping to pick up three points against Australia. The Socceroos are the outsiders in this section but they are playing under a new coach and a number of players will be aiming to impress Bert Van Marwijk.
Denmark vs Australia Predictions
Denmark picked up three points against Peru but were far from convincing during that tie. They were tested by Peru and needed Kasper Schmeichel to spare their blushes. They were effective enough in the final third and a single goal proved enough. Age Hareide’s side tend to find a way of winning even when they aren’t at their free-flowing best and that is an excellent trait to possess. They should progress to the round of 16 and will be expected to pick up three points from this tie with Australia. Sports Interaction make them 1.79 to beat the Socceroos and they should pick up a narrow victory here.
Denmark vs Australia Preview
These two sides sit at opposite ends of Group C but there isn’t much between them. Youssuf Poulsen gave Denmark the lead and they somehow managed to hold on, surviving wave upon wave of Peruvian attacks. They rode their luck and need an improved performance in this tie. They have plenty of quality in their side and Christian Eriksen will once again be pivotal to their chances of progressing.
Australia were far from outclassed by France and created a fair few chances against the 1998-winners. VAR counted against them and they will be determined to bounce back from that disappointment. They are much tougher to break down under Bert Van Marwijk and they won’t make it easy for Denmark.
Denmark vs Australia Both Teams to Score Prediction
Denmark somehow kept a clean sheet against Peru but they are unlikely to face such a stern examination in this match. They look fairly well-organised at the back and this game could come down to one of two moments of individual quality. Australia aren’t a high-scoring side and they could fail to get on the scoresheet in this one. Schmeichel has clocked up over 500 minutes without conceding for Denmark and they should be tough to break down once again. Both Teams to Score? No seems likely and can be backed at 1.65 with Intertops.
Correct Score Prediction
Both of these sides have fairly pragmatic managers and this game is unlikely to be a goal-fest. A 1-0 win for Denmark is highly likely and that would suit Age Hareide perfectly. Two consecutive 1-0 wins would virtually assure the Danes of their place in the next round. A 1-0 scoreline is priced at 51.00 with 888Sport.
Group C Standings
Denmark sit joint-top with France and qualification is in their hands. Australia will be disappointed not to have taken anything from their opening match and are yet to collect a point but their goal difference remains respectable.
