World Cup semi-finalists will look to make short work of a Cyprus side looking to make a serious assault on qualification for Euro 2020 but may find themselves still coming up short.

Much is still expected of Belgium after Roberto Martínez’s talented squad finished third in Russia during the 2018 World Cup.

The belief is that Euro 2020 may well be the Red Devils’ best chance of a tournament win and qualification should be a sure thing.

In their tie with Cyprus, it is not hard to see why Belgium are made heavy favourites with the best betting sites to come away with the three-points after 10 wins and a draw from 11 previous meetings with their opponents.

There is no doubting Cyprus are a team on the up as their domestic league goes from strength to strength.

A win over Slovenia in the Nations League was proof enough of this, however, Ran Ben Shimon’s men still remain some way short of being tournament ready and it is hard to see any result other than a Belgium win.

Twice the Red Devils have beaten Cyprus 3-0 away and after a 3-0 and 4-0 away wins in two of their last four road games, back the Belgium’s to record another comfortable 3-0 win.

Betting Tips

Belgium to score over 1.5 first half goals

When it comes to gaining any sort of value with popular sportsbooks for this game, then looking at the goal markets is the place to be.

Belgium has netted five of their last nine away goals in the opening half making this one of the best bets you are likely to get in what looks set to be a one-sided affair.

An odd number of goals in the game

Four of Belgium’s last five games in which they have been classed the away side has resulted in a total odd number of goals scored.

Head to Head

This will be the 12th meeting between the two with the visitors boasting the far superior record.

So much so in fact, that Belgium have never lost to Cyprus, winning 10 of those head to head games.

Most recently Belgium thumped their opponents 4-0 in October 2017 during qualification for the 2018 World Cup but in 1995, Cyprus did record a shock 1-1 draw in a Euro 96 qualification game.

  • Cyprus have never qualified for a European Championships.
  • The first ever meeting between the two came in December 1980 with Belgium winning 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier.
  • Belgium reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 but suffered a shock defeat to Wales.
  • Belgium beat Cyprus 4-0 the last time the pair met in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match.
