Croatia vs England Predictions

The 2018 World Cup is nearing a conclusion and the second semi-final sees England face Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium. England will begin as favourites after easing past Sweden in the quarter-finals but they can’t afford to take this opposition lightly. Croatia may have needed extra-time and penalties to squeeze past Russia but they have a number of talented players such as Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic who should be able to cause problems for the Three Lions. England have looked dangerous going forward and extremely handy from set-pieces. They’ve played fewer minutes than Croatia and should be able to take advantage of their opponents weariness. England can be backed at 2.30 with William Hill.

Croatia vs England Preview

Zlatko Dalic admitted that his side were ‘lucky’ to reach the semi-finals after succeeding in a shoot-out for the second successive game. They should have secured their progress in extra time against Denmark and were leading against Russia until the 115th minute but they have somehow conspired to throw it away. They were excellent during the group stage, picking up maximum points although they were given a helping hand by Willy Caballero and a Nigeria team who didn’t bother turning up for their World Cup opener. They will be keen to progress to the World Cup final for the first time.

England got back to winning ways against Sweden with a comfortable 2-0 success. They needed Jordan Pickford’s athleticism to help keep a rare clean sheet and they will look to build upon that. Gareth Southgate is unlikely to make too many changes for this tie and he will be pleased to see the much-maligned Dele Alli get on the scoresheet. England made a slow start against the Swedes and can’t afford to take their eye off the ball in this game. If passed fit, Mario Mandzukic will be a handful for Harry Maguire and John Stones and their entire back-line will need to be focused throughout the 90 minutes.

Over/Under Prediction

Croatia’s last two games have ended 1-1 and their only games to have featured three or more goals so far have been against Argentina and Iceland. The latter had to attack in order to remain in the competition whilst the Albiceleste were hapless at the back and handed the game on a plate to Croatia. England have scored three in three and are unlikely to be afforded multiple opportunities in this game. Both teams know that there is plenty at stake and they can’t afford to make any mistakes. That should lead to a low-scoring game. Under 2.5 Goals is priced at 1.52 with Sports Interaction.

Croatia vs England Correct Score Prediction

England aren’t going to find this a straightforward task and Croatia are likely to command plenty of possession. Both teams will have to be patient and this game could be settled by a single set-piece or an individual moment of magic. 1-0 England looks like a decent option in the correct score market. It’s available at 5.98 with Intertops.

Croatia vs England Odds
