Two sides that have recruited heavily this summer meet at the Etihad on August 21 as Everton visit Manchester City in the EPL. The Toffees sneaked past Stoke on the opening weekend and will be looking for successive victories as they make the short trip to Manchester. Wayne Rooney made a fairytale start to his second spell at the club and he’ll be looking to find the target again in this much-anticipated clash. The former England international was one of many new names to make their debut following an uncharacteristic splurge by the Merseyside club this summer. Away trips don’t get much tougher than this, with Manchester City having improved their squad significantly this summer adding almost £200 million GBP ($329 million CAD) worth of new signings and it is believed they haven’t finished yet. Wing-backs Kyle Walker and Danilo both impressed on debut but it was one of the old boys Sergio Aguero who bagged the first goal of the game against Brighton. City are looking for revenge after losing 4-0 at Goodison Park last season and Pep Guardiola’s side have an embarrassment of riches available to them for this clash. A few of the top sides dropped points on the opening weekend but the Citizens weren’t one of them, proving clinical and patient as they broke down league newcomers Brighton at the AMEX. Other Premier League games in the second round of fixtures include Liverpool hosting Crystal Palace and the aforementioned Brighton traveling to face Leicester. Champions Chelsea slipped up on the opening weekend and they will be looking to make amends as they make the short journey to Wembley to face a mouthwatering clash with Spurs. Finally, Premier League newcomers Huddersfield are looking for back to back victories as they take on Newcastle in their first home match of the season.
