Chile vs Perú: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Copa America 2019 Semi Finals
Chile vs Peru, Copa America, Arena do Grêmio, Semi-final

Copa America holders Chile look to make it to their third straight final whilst plucky Peru will be eager to banish semi-final heartache for a shot at the grand prize.

Predictions

Chile are the masters of penalties. El equipo de todos won the last two Copa America finals by that method and even came through their quarter-final clash with Colombia thanks to a penalty shootout win.

Seeking their third straight Copa America victory, few would back against Reinaldo Rueda’s men to do just that which is why the Chileans come into the game as favourites with online betting sites to make it to the final.

However, they will not have it easy as their opponents Peru have shown they are no pushovers after overcoming Uruguay on penalties in the last eight to set up this last four clash.

Since winning the Copa America in 1975, Peru have made it to the last four on five occasions, but failed to progress to the final each time.

Ricardo Gareca’s side also looked poor in the 5-0 loss to Brazil in the group stage and have only beaten Chile twice in their last 14 meetings.

That makes it difficult to look beyond Chile to get the job down with popular sportsbooks in a game that is likely to be tight.

With the pair so fond of penalties, a 1-1 score line on the night followed by a Chile win from the spot kicks looks a sensible way to go in this one.

Betting Tips

Do not expect a lot of goals but do expect one each in this semi-final clash.

Three of the last four games between the two has seen both teams find the back of the net and at this late stage of the tournament expect both to create chances.

Peru have only scored one goal in the opening 45 minutes of their last seven international matches meaning a Chile lead at the break is the likeliest scenario.
