Despite recent turbulent times, Chelsea find themselves still in the top four hunt as an unpredictable Wolves come to Stamford Bridge with their own designs on European football.

It is hard to believe that it was only last season Wolves earned promotion back to the Premier League after a six-season absence such has been the way Nuno Espírito Santo’s side has gone about their business.

As they head to Stamford Bridge, Wolves sit just one place behind their opponents in seventh, although there is a 13-point gap between the two).

Wolves though are an unpredictable team this season having already beaten the Blues at Molineux in the Premier League but whilst also suffering defeats to the likes of rock-bottom Huddersfield Town in recent weeks. That will make Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri as wary man indeed but a confident one.

Chelsea have won their last two Premier League outings and look somewhat galvanised despite the League Cup final debacle involving goalkeeper Kepa and Sarri.

Understandably, the Blues head into the game as favourites with sports betting sites and it’s not difficult to see why.  Chelsea have only conceded nine at home in the league all season whilst Wolves have only managed to net 15 times on the road, the same as relegation threatened Southampton.

However, Wolves have only lost one of their last 10 in all competitions and that was by a single goal. Back the Blues in this one in a tight game with the Stamford Bridge faithful treated to an unspectacular 1-0 win.

Betting Tips

  • Chelsea to keep a clean sheet

Only Liverpool (7) have conceded fewer at home than Chelsea’s nine this season making this one of the best bets with top sportsbooks for a close to evens bet on a solid Chelsea defensive performance.

  • 0-0 at halftime

Wolves have only conceded in the first half once in their last five outings in all competitions while five of Chelsea’s last seven goals at home in the league have come in the second half.

Head To Head

Wolves have already claimed bragging rights this season having recorded a 2-1 victory at Molineux back in December.

The pair have a remarkably close record all things considered as Chelsea has recorded a total of 41 victories over the Wanderers, with Wolves claiming 39 and a total of 26 draws between the two across all competitions.

  • This will be the first Premier League meeting between the two at Stamford Bridge since November 2011 (Chelsea won 3-0).
  • Wolves have not won away at Chelsea since March 1979.
  • Only Liverpool (7) have conceded fewer times at home than Chelsea (9) this season.
  • Wolves have only lost one of their last 10 games in all competitions.
  • Manchester City are the only side to have taken more shots than Chelsea this season in the Premier League.
