Chelsea vs Burnley: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea need to get all three points from the visit of Burnley if they are to keep up the pressure in the race for fourth place.
Although the game will be mainly remembered for Mo Salah’s wonder strike, Eden Hazard actually had two chances within two minutes to score against Liverpool – and a point at Anfield would have been a huge morale boost to Chelsea as they aim to qualify for the Champions League.
Burnley have been playing some excellent football recently to take them away from the relegation battle at the foot of the table. The win at Bournemouth was particularly impressive and they have now won three Premier League games in a row. This will be a stern test for Sean Dyche’s team though and the bookmakers will have Chelsea as firm favourites.
Chelsea went 12 games at the start of the season before losing a single match – but even then Maurizio Sarri was telling the fans not to get too excited. Poor performances since that time have proved the Italian coach right and Chelsea are now in danger of losing out on their top four spot.
Burnley qualified for Europe last season but that has looked a long way off this time around as the Lancashire club has struggled for the majority of the campaign. Things have turned around recently but another three points at Stamford Bridge seems unlikely. Chelsea could win this one 2-1.
Both teams to score
Burnley’s strikers have been enjoying their most profitable part of the season recently.
Chelsea to win and both teams to score
This might be much tougher for Chelsea than many pundits are expecting – but they should still go on to win even if Burnley manage to find the net.

Head to Head
Chelsea thrashed Burnley 4-0 earlier in the season but the Clarets won last season’s match at Stamford Bridge 3-2 when Chelsea had two men sent off.
- Eden Hazard has the most assists in the Premier League this season – but also has 16 top flight goals making him the club’s number one scorer as well.
- Burnley lost 13 Premier League games before Christmas – but have only been defeated on four occasions since the turn of the year.
- Maurizio Sarri has been criticised this season over his side’s lack of attacking thrust – only Manchester City have made more passes but Pep Guardiola’s team have scored almost 30 more Premier League goals.
- Burnley’s recent winning streak has seen the goals tally rise and they have scored more times than any club below them in the league.
