Bucks vs Celtics: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Thursday November 1st, 8:00 pm Eastern Time
The currently undefeated Bucks travel to Boston, and are looking to show the Celtics that they’re the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
The one-two punch of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middelton is proving to be one of the most lethal tandems in all of basketball. The two stars combined for over 67 ppg throughout the first six games of the season. The under-the-radar offseason acquisition of center, Brook Lopez, has began to pay dividends in Milwaukee. A former 20-10 guy, Lopez has transitioned to more of a three-and-D center later on in his career. Lopez’s ability to stretch the court pulls defenders out of the paint, leaving open driving lines for the Bucks multitude of slashers, such as Eric Bledsoe and the previously mentioned Greek Freak.
While the Celtics have continued to keep pace with Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference rankings, the team has gotten questionable play from one of biggest stars. Kyrie Irving has not looked himself this season after returning from knee surgery. Irving, once one of the league’s best finishers at the rim, is averaging a career low 14 ppg. Jayson Tatum was previously carrying the extra weight left behind by Irving to start the season, but has slowed down of late, scoring under double digit points in two of his past three games.
Giannis is currently in concussion protocol, and will miss the Bucks Monday matchup with the Raptors. As long as Giannis is cleared for Thursday, the Bucks should be able to handle a slightly disappointing Celtics team. The Bucks may prove to be just too loaded for the Celtics to finish off, which is saying a lot for a Celtics unit which possesses one of the deepest rosters in the NBA.
Score prediction: Bucks win 109-103
- Bucks at Celtics: Take Bucks (SU)
Celtics are bringing their star players along slowly, and relying on their young talent to help get them through the first quarter of the season. Boston’s second-to-last ranked offense will have its struggles with Milwaukee and their third ranked defensive unit. The Bucks are out to prove they are legit contenders. As long as Giannis is healthy, the Bucks should handle their business Thursday night in Boston.
The Bucks average nearly 120 ppg on the season, good for 5th in the NBA. All five Bucks starters are averaging at least 12 ppg. For all their struggles offensively, the Celtics have scored at least 101 points in all but a single game this season. Kyrie could finally get things going against a Bucks defense who surrendered 41 points to point guard Kemba Walker only a few games ago.
