Brazil vs Perú: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Copa America 2019 Finals
Brazil vs Perú Copa America 2019, Maracanã Stadium, Final

Hosts Brazil takes on Peru for the right to crowned champions of South America. It all comes down to this.

Predictions

So, even without Neymar, Brazil have been able to qualify, fairly easily, for the final of the 2019 Copa America. A strong defensive display kept Argentina out in the semi final before Roberto Firmino confirmed the victory with the second goal of the night. Confidence will be high in the Brazil camp – and Tite may even keep his job now.

Peru have surprised everyone – including the sports betting sites – by making it this far. After needing penalties to knock out Uruguay in the quarter finals they thrashed Chile 3-0 in their semi to set up a final against the hosts at the Maracana. Peru lost 5-0 Brazil in the group stage but have improved as the tournament has progressed.

Although Brazil have cruised through the tournament so far they have had a little trouble from Venezuela and Paraguay – two unfancied nations that both kept them to goalless draw. This has been a team effort from the hosts, rather than relying on the talents of just one or two superstars. They will go into the final as favourites with the bookies – and fully deserve that billing.

Peru only qualified for the knock out rounds as the highest ranked third placed team – but they have gone about their business in a determined manner and have deserved their place in the final. The semi final victory over Chile was a master class in pace and energy but the final will be a different proposition all together. Brazil could win 2-0.

Betting Tips

Brazilian keeper Alisson has continued the fine form he showed for Liverpool all season and is yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

For a little bit more value a correct score bet may be the way to go. Brazil have been strong at the back and have usually scored in this tournament.

  • Peru last won the Copa America in 1975 and have only made it past the quarter finals twice since then – in 1979 and 1983 when they were knocked out in the semis.
  • Brazil beat Peru 5-0 in the group stage of this tournament, with five different players getting on the score sheet.
  • Peru were able to put three goals past Chile in the semi final to qualify for this game at ease. But they had only scored three goals in the entire tournament before that game.
