Bournemouth vs Chelsea: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Chelsea head to the south coast on the hunt for some much-needed points against a Bournemouth side buoyed after stopping the rot last time out.
Chelsea’s rather tame outing at Arsenal turned a large number of fans against head coach Maurizio Sarri. However, the loan signing of Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain will no doubt have gone someway to appease disgruntled fans.
Wherever Higuain goes the goals follow and that is exactly what has been lacking for the Blues on the road this season with less than 20 away strikes to their name in the Premier League.
No doubt a host of top betting sites will have shortened the Blues’ top four odds following Higuain’s signature with the striker in line to make his Premier League debut against a Bournemouth side boasting the sixth best home record in the league.
However, despite collecting 21 points at the Vitality Stadium this season, Bournemouth’s record against the Blues is poor, having lost the last five home ties against Chelsea in all competitions.
Both sides will be under pressure in this contest but as Chelsea play two cup games prior to their meeting with the Cherries, expect Bournemouth to cause something of a shock with a seventh home win of the season in a 2-1 win.
- Bournemouth to win
Considering Chelsea have lost their last two away games in all competitions and come into the game with an additional minimum 180 minutes of football under their belt, the Cherries offer substantial value for the win.
Having collected 21 points at home Eddie’s Howe’s men are formidable at the Vitality and quite possibly offer the best value with online sportsbooks of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures.
- Both teams to score in the first half
Half of Bournemouth’s last six home goals have come in the first half whilst the Blues have netted three of their last five road goals in the opening 45.

Head To Head
The Blues have enjoyed double success over the Cherries already this season, recording a 2-0 Premier League win at Stamford Bridge in September and a 1-0 home League Cup win in December.
However, Bournemouth did surprise Chelsea with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge in the league almost exactly a year ago.
Overall, Bournemouth have beaten Chelsea just three times with the Blues recording eleven wins and zero draws between the two.
- In 14 previous meetings the pair have never shared a draw.
- Chelsea have already beaten Bournemouth twice this season once in the league and once in the EFL Cup.
- 21 of Bournemouth’s 30 points this season has come at the Vitality Stadium.
- Chelsea have hit the woodwork 16 times this season, more than any other side.
- No player has made more assists this season than Chelsea’s Eden Hazard with 10.
