Best matches of the week

Toronto Maple Leafs at New York Islanders

New York IslandersNew York Islanders

Tip –The last time the Toronto Maple Leafs visited the New York Islanders, it was all about John Tavares. The fans let him know just how much they appreciated him leaving the club as a free agent and there should be another raucous crowd on hand Monday as well. The occasion seemed to get the best of Tavares and the Maple Leafs last time out, but that shouldn’t be the case on Monday. Expect Toronto to send a real signal of intent to the Islanders and the rest of the league after a disappointing game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas Golden KnightsVegas Golden Knights

Tip –Edmonton were handed another brutal loss on Saturday night, being downed by the woeful Anaheim Ducks 5-1 in their own building. Even though they might have the best player in the NHL today in Connor McDavid, they have struggled throughout the campaign and will have a daunting task on their hands Monday evening in Las Vegas. Malcolm Subban continues to start in net for the Golden Knights with Marc-Andre Fleury yet to return from injury, but that shouldn’t make too much of a difference. Take one of the league’s best home teams to get the job done at T-Mobile Arena on Monday evening.

Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild

Minnesota WildMinnesota Wild

Tip –The Winnipeg Jets visit the Minnesota Wild a night after playing the Blackhawks in Chicago. Although Winnipeg have already cliched a playoff spot, they are fighting for top spot in the Central Division in a tight race with the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues. Minnesota on the other hand, are battling for their lives as they look to catch the Colorado Avalanche for the final Wild Card spot. The Jets could be a tired team entering the contest on Tuesday and Minnesota know they need two points if they have any chance of playing playoff hockey. Take a desperate Wild team to earn a crucial victory on all relevant betting sites.

Vancouver Canucks at Nashville Predators

Bridgestone Arena

Nashville PredatorsNashville Predators

Tip –The Nashville Predators came into the campaign as one of the favourites to win the Stanley Cup and with the regular season winding down that hasn’t changed. They find themselves in a tough battle for top spot in the Central Division but should make an impact in the postseason regardless of where they ultimately finish in the standings. Vancouver has some exciting young players and a bright future ahead of them, but with little to play for at this point in the season don’t expect them to do much at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday evening. The home side should cruise to two points.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens

Montreal CanadiensMontreal Canadiens

Tip –In the final game of the regular season, the Maple Leafs could have the opportunity to eliminate their biggest rivals before the playoffs begin. Montreal are currently fighting for a Wild Card spot with the Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets. It could come down to a win on Saturday evening and there is nothing Toronto fans would love more than to see their team knock out Montreal from playoff contention. However, the Maple Leafs will have one eye on the playoffs already and Carey Price seems to come up big when his team needs him most. Take a motivated Montreal team to earn a crucial victory against Toronto.

Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks

SAP Center

San Jose SharksSan Jose Sharks

Tip –The Colorado Avalanche could enter the SAP Center on Saturday needing a win in their final regular season game to clinch a Wild Card spot. San Jose on the other hand are locked into second place in the Pacific Division and will not be more concerned about entering the playoffs a healthy hockey club. It will not be an easy game regardless, but Colorado will have a must-win mentality and as a result should be able to take two points. Go with the visitors on all your favourite betting sites.
