Best matches of the week

Vegas Golden KnightsVegas Golden Knights

Tip – The Golden Knights continue to prove that travelling to Las Vegas is one of the most difficult road trips to make in the NHL, as they have dominated on home ice picking up points in 18 of their first 22 games at T-Mobile Arena. While Minnesota are no pushover and have proven to be a top team in the West, take the home side with the over also looking like a strong possibility.

New York Islanders at Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago BlackhawksChicago Blackhawks

Tip – The New York Islanders are in the midst of a playoff fight as they look to reach the postseason despite playing in the difficult Metropolitan Division. They are one of the best teams on the road in the league, winning 14 of their 23 games away from home – including picking up points in 17 of them. They head to Chicago to take on a weak Blackhawks’ side at the United Center and should have no problems picking up two important points.

Detroit Red Wings at Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton OilersEdmonton Oilers

Tip –The Detroit Red Wings will be playing the final contest of their three-game road trip to Western Canada when they visit the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. While they should have adjusted to the time change by then, it will still be a difficult affair against an Edmonton side fighting for their playoff lives. The Red Wings have just eight wins on the road this season and will likely struggle mightily in this one.

Carolina Hurricanes at Calgary Flames

Calgary FlamesCalgary Flames

Tip – The Calgary Flames have been a pleasant surprise, topping the Pacific Division and terrifying their opponents. They have picked up points in 21 of 25 home games this season and will be expecting to improve on that record when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town. While Carolina are battling for a playoff spot, they have just nine wins on the road and will have a daunting task on their hands in Alberta. With only Tampa Bay scoring more goals in the league than Calgary, take the over and the Flames in what should be an exciting contest.

Carolina Hurricanes at Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks Vancouver Canucks

Tip – The Carolina Hurricanes visit Vancouver for the second half of a back-to-back and will be playing their third game in four nights. It is never easy to fly across the continent and play in a different time zone, but it is made even more difficult with a hectic schedule like the one Carolina currently has to deal with. While they will enjoy the lengthy All-Star break following the contest in Vancouver, they will surely be an exhausted side when they take on the Canucks. As a result, take Vancouver to get the job done with the under also looking favourable.

St. Louis Blues at Anaheim Ducks

Tip – John Gibson was finally able to break his winless slump and has looked incredible in net for the Ducks ever since. Anaheim has been rather inconsistent throughout the campaign but have still managed to take points in 18 of their first 25 games at the Honda Center this year and will be viewing this game as a must-win as they continue their pursuit of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. While St. Louis is a better team than their record suggests, they have just nine wins on the road and will be fighting an uphill battle in California. The Ducks should cruise to a regulation victory in what could be a low-scoring tightly contested affair.
