BRK Nets at NY Knicks

Tip – After only six games, coach Fizdale has sent three of the Knicks opening day starters to the bench in hopes of finding a winning formula. New York stands at 1-5 on the season, and once again looks like a bottom feeding team in the East. The Nets aren’t far behind them, with only one more victory, thanks to their win over the Knicks earlier in the year. Brooklyn has three point guards averaging double-digit points, while shooting guard Caris LeVert has nearly doubled his ppg output this season. Brooklyn’s backcourt should help them secure the victory over the dysfunctional Knicks.

Tip – Zach LaVine is on an absolute tear to start the season, averaging nearly 30 points a game. Still, his inept defensive play, and lack of a true offensive sidekick, will be too much for the Bulls to overcome when facing off against the league’s best. Since losing by two points to the Denver Nuggets, Golden State has won by an average of 23.3 points over the last three games.

LA Lakers at MIN Timberwolves

MIN TimberwolvesMIN Timberwolves

Tip – The Lakers are slowly coming together. Lonzo Ball is learning how to play off the ball, and becoming a catch and shoot guy from the arc, evident by his 40.6 three-point shooting percentage. Lance Stephenson has quickly asserted himself as the Lakers second best offseason acquisition. The Timberwolves are a mess, and the longer they turn away trade offers for Jimmy Butler, the less attractive the offers will be. Especially if “Jimmy Buckets” continues to not get buckets like he  did on Friday, when he put up only four points in 24 minutes.

Tip – A lot of fuss has been made about Gordon Hayward not being fully recovered from his injury, but the more pressing concern for Boston may be Kyrie Irving and his inefficient play since retuning from his own injury. Irving is currently putting up a career worst ppg (14) FG% (39.1) and 3pt% (24.1). Detroit did fall to Boston by 10 points on Friday, but that was with Blake Griffin only putting up seven points. If Griffin can get back to his 28,4 ppg play, Detroit should make it interesting, and possibly escape victorious.

Tip – Denver was so impressive in handing Golden State their first and only loss on the season, but has been more Jekyll and Hyde as of late. Still, Denver is one of the most talented rosters, 1-12, in all of basketball. Zach LaVine will make things interesting in Chi-Town, but Denver’s big man Nikola Jokic should bang his way down low, on his way to a victory over a team that surrenders 115 ppg on the season.

IND Pacers at NY Knicks

Tip – The Pacers are beginning to look like one of the stronger starting-five units in basketball, thanks to Bojan Bogdanovic, and his more than 10% increase on his field goal percentage from a season ago. Pacers also get Tyreke Evans back from his 1-game suspension. The guard trio of Evans, Victor Oladipo, and Darren Collison will prove to be too much for the struggling Knicks to contain.

NO Hornets at GS Warriors

Tip – The Pelicans are putting together something special in New Orleans, Anthony Davis has been his usual phenomenal self, while Jrue Holiday is continuing to progress in his second season playing off the ball. Holiday is able to continue his play at the 2-guard thanks to Elfrid Payton and his improved three point shot. Speaking of three point shots, Warriors’ Stephen Curry is averaging nearly 34 ppg after scoring a grand total of 109 points in just his last three games. This will be a tightly contested game, one that the Warriors will likely pull it out in the final minutes.

DAL Mavericks at LA Lakers

Tip –It feels like Mark Cuban and his Dallas Mavericks have been tanking as long as Shark Tank has been on the air. It may finally be slowly coming together for Dallas. Three years after jilting the Mavs in free agency, DeAndre Jordan has now notched five consecutive double-doubles for Dallas. Rookie Luka Doncic has averaged nearly 20 ppg, and looks like the player that can take the torch from Dirk Nowitzki. Doncic’s size and savvy playmaking ability will shine against a defense whose recent poor play was put on blast by head coach Luke Walton. LeBron may win the game, mostly on his own, but Dallas, a likely underdog, will keep it extremely close.
