Best matches of the week

Nashville Predators at Washington Capitals

Capital One Arena

NHL Washington CapitalsWashington Capitals

TipIn what could ultimately end up being a preview of the Stanley Cup finals, the Nashville Predators head to Washington to take on the Capitals in their final game of 2018. While Washington struggled early in the season, they have been firing on all cylinders recently and have looked nearly unbeatable at home – picking up points in 14 of their first 19 games at Capital One Arena. While the Predators do travel well, take the home side and the over in what should be a tightly contested affair.

Los Angeles Kings at Colorado Avalanche

Los Angeles Kings

December 31st, 2018
8:00 pm ET

Pepsi Center

Colorado Avalanche

TipThe Colorado Avalanche are in a dogfight for top spot in the Central Division, while the Los Angeles Kings are just trying to stay out of the basement of the Western Conference. With just 88 goals scored after 38 games, no team in the entire league has struggled to find the back of the net as much as the Kings – a trend that should continue New Year’s Eve. The home side will likely cruise to a victory, but don’t expect too many goals to be scored.

Philadelphia Flyers at Nashville Predators

Philadelphia Flyers

January 1st, 2019
8:30 pm ET

Bridgestone Arena

Nashville Predators

TipThe Nashville Predators have won 14 of their first 20 games at Bridgestone Arena and are expecting to improve on that record when the Flyers come to town for a New Year’s Day battle. While the Flyers haven’t been the worst team on the road, they certainly haven’t been great and will likely be on the outside looking in of the playoff picture this season. It’ll be a raucous atmosphere on Tuesday night, as the Predators should take two important points.

Minnesota Wild at Toronto Maple Leafs

Mminnesota WildMinnesota Wild

January 3rd, 2019
2:00 Pm ET

Scotiabank Arena

Toronto Maple Leafs

TipThe Minnesota Wild visit Toronto to play the Maple Leafs in a rare matinee affair at Scotiabank Arena. The Maple Leafs are in the President’s Trophy conversation and will be expecting a win after having been off since Saturday. With points in 13 of their first 19 games on home ice, they are a very difficult team to play in Toronto and the Wild could be in for a long night. Auston Matthews to score anytime may also be worth laying some money on.

Chicago Blackhawks at Pittsburgh Penguins

Chicago Blackhawks

January 6th, 2019
8:00 Pm ET

PPG Paints Arena

Pittsburgh Penguins

TipThe Pittsburgh Penguins had fans worried early in the campaign, but those fears seem to have been subdued in recent weeks with the team back in the Metropolitan Division race. Chicago on the other hand, have continued to struggle – especially away from home. This should be a comfortable win for the Penguins, with the over also looking like a safe bet.

New Jersey Devils at Vegas Golden Knights

New Jersey Devils

January 6th, 2019
4:00 pm ET

T-Mobile Arena

Vegas Golden Knights

TipThe Vegas Golden Knights have prided themselves on making T-Mobile Arena a fortress and much like last season, that seems to be the case again this year. They have taken points in 15 of their first 18 games at home, proving how difficult it is to play in Las Vegas. The Golden Knights are back in the playoff picture and looking like the team that went to the Stanley Cup finals last spring. They should get the job done against an inferior Devils’ side, who has been abysmal on the road.
