Arsenal vs Chelsea: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Saturday, January 19th 2019 @12:30
Come the end of the season this match could be the one that decided who qualified for the Champions League.
The race for the top four is as competitive as ever this year with four spots to be split between six teams as we head into mid-January.
The winner of this London derby will be offered a huge advantage in the race for the top four as The Blues could be nine points clear in the top four whilst The Gunners could pull within three points of a coveted Champions League place.
Unai Emery’s side have stumbled in recent weeks, with just two wins in their past six games whilst Chelsea have slipped away from the top of the table considering their blistering start.
If one thing is guaranteed in this match, it’s entertainment. Arsenal’s attack has been difficult to handle even for top sides this season as well as scoring 24 goals in 11 home matches this season.
For Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea, they’ll have to rely on what is the second best away defensive record in the league. However, when Aubameyang and Lacazette both have their scoring boots on, they can be almost impossible to contain. It’s likely to be the case, 2-1 Arsenal.
Arsenal to win @ 27/20
If there’s one thing Arsenal have been able to lean on in recent years, it’s their home form and even under a new manager it’s holding true. The Gunners possess the third best home form in the Premier League, only behind Liverpool and Manchester City. Their attacking quality and home advantage should be enough to see them through this one even with their recent shaky form.
Both teams to score @ 1/2
These are short odds but for good reason. This game features the fourth and sixth best attacks in the league, averaging over two goals a game and then some. Whilst Arsenal’s attack will likely benefit from home advantage, Chelsea’s will benefit from Arsenal’s 11th best defence in the league. So goals are surely guaranteed in what could be a headache for UK bookies.

Head To Head
Considering these two sides are giants of the English game, it should come as no surprise that they’ve met on an eye watering 176 occasions. The overall record is considerably even but the Gunners take the cake with 67 wins, whilst there’s been 51 draws and 58 Chelsea wins.
Their first meeting came in November 1907, where Chelsea won 2-1. The reverse of this fixture came back in August with The Blues emerging as 3-2 victors thanks to goals from Pedro, Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso.
