Young Boys vs Man. United: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
The Swiss champions kick off their first ever Champions League campaign against one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Young Boys of Bern finally made it through the Champions League qualifying stage at the sixth attempt when they beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-2 on aggregate in the play-off round and have been rewarded with a group consisting of Juventus and Valencia as well as Jose Mourinho’s men.
Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League by Sevilla in the round of 16 last year after topping their group and winning five out of the six matches. A feeling of instability surrounds the club at the moment though and a good start to this season’s European campaign will calm a few nerves.
The Swiss champions have started this season where they left off last year winning all six of their league matches so far. Their league title last season was their first in 32 years and they are really looking like they are going to challenge the dominance Basel have enjoyed in Switzerland in the last 10 years.
United have not started the season well on and off the field. Confusion reigns with Jose Mourinho’s management style upsetting players and fans alike – and the English media has already questioned his future at the club. Results have not all been positive either and a defeat in Bern would only add to the Portuguese manager’s worries. United should win though and can expect a 2-0 victory.
Even with the club supposedly in crisis United will surely be too strong for the Swiss debutants. The draw is an attractive price at around 11/4 but an away victory is the wiser bet.
United have the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez at their disposal but seem to be making hard work of their games this season. Three points is all important here though and Mourinho won’t mind if that doesn’t come with a whole host of goals.
