A David Pocock masterpiece helped the Wallabies to a hard fought 18-9 win over Ireland at Lang Park, snapping the Irish 12 match unbeaten streak.

Pocock, in his first Test for 18 months after a self-enforced sabbatical, was immense. Pocock was heavily involved in every ruck and carried the ball over the advantage line when Australia needed it most, His strength at the breakdown was influential and most importantly, scored the match winning try in the 72nd minute.

Pock was not alone with Kurtley Beale huge in attack and the aerial skills of Israel Folau were sublime.

The Wallabies were tough in defence too with Hooper, Koroibete, Coleman applying bone-crunching tackles on the unsuspecting Irish.

However, it wasn’t a perfect performance with both the Wallabies and the Irish sloppy at times, but it was tough.

Both teams will need to improve for next Saturday’s test in Melbourne.

The softer ground will favour the Irish. Look for a better performance from them in attempting to level the series at 1-1.

Best Value Series Outcome Bets

After the first test, it’s still abundantly clear that it will be a close series and if it’s betting value you’re looking for;
• the 2-1 series to the Wallabies, or;
• the 2-1 series win to the Irish;
Both are quoted at $3.00 and offer excellent betting value.
