Best VRC Oaks Tips

The VRC Oaks is Australia’s leading Group 1 race for three-year-old fillies.

The race is run over 2500 metres at Flemington Racecourse on Oaks Day, or Ladies Day as it is commonly known, the third day (Thursday) of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The Oaks has an equivalent history to the Cup, dating back to 1861 when Palestine won the inaugural running of the race. Originally ran over 12 furlongs, it was extended to the current 2500 metre distance.

This year’s best chances;

If she runs out the journey, Amphitrite (Bet Now: $3.50) will win. She should have fresh-legs and usually does everything right on race day unlike Verry Elleegant.

Take 22Bet’s odds (Bet Now: $1.67) for Amphitrite to place in first 3.

Verry Elleegant – Either very, very good or very bad. However, her very good is perhaps worth an each-way-bet (Bet Now: $4.60)

Greysful GlamourGood each-way-shot (Bet Now: $17.00)

ScamperBest Long Shot Bet (Bet Now: $34.00) Ran in a maiden at Yarra Valley over 1950m last Saturday and won in classy fashion in the final few strides. Bigger track and up to 2500m seems like it could be her thing. Firming rapidly, these odds won’t last.
