Sydney Thunder vs Hobart Hurricanes 55th Match Squad Comparison

Sydney Thunder

Shane Watson’s team is under pressure going into the game. The team that looked good in till a week ago
has suddenly creating problems for itself losing three out of their last four games. Their last loss against Sydney Sixers has put them in a spot of bother. They have to win the next game by a good margin and also hope for other games to go in their favor to make it to the semi-finals. But the return of key players in the side and ability to field a full-strength team will make the side confident going into the next game.

Shane Watson would in most likelihood open with Usman Khawaja in the next game with the latter’s return strengthening the batting. Jason Sangha, Callum Ferguson and Anton Devcich have had a good season with the bat and they would strengthen the middle order. With Chris Green and Daniel Sams in the lower order they have good batting strength. The return of Pat Cummins strengthens their bowling. Fawad Ahmed, Jonathan Cook and Daniel Sams have also bowled well in the season and it would be a big test for the attack to check the Hurricanes batting line-up which has looked incredibly strong this season.

Hobart Hurricanes

It is one of those seasons where this team simply looks unbeatable. Having won ten out of their thirteen games this season Mathew Wade’s team is riding on great confidence. While their bowlers haven’t had the best of tournament their batting especially their top order has been a cut above the rest. The way they batted against Melbourne Renegades and defended the total just goes to show the kind of spirit the team currently has. While the final game would have no effect on their standing in the points table Wade would want his team to go into the semi-final on a winning note.

Most victories for the side in this season have been scripted by the opening pair of Mathew Wade and D’Arcy Short. They are the two top scorers this season. The middle order has also fared well with Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Caleb Jewell and Simon Milenko having runs under their belt. James Faulkner towards the end of the innings is handy with the bat. As far as bowling goes
Jofra Archer has been the pick of the bowlers. Faulkner has also done well and so has Short. Having David Moody and Qais Ahmad just adds to their bowling strength and the side would hope to do well in the next game.
