Suns vs Lakers: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Monday, December 3rd, 2018, 7:30 Am (ET)
The Lakers will look to keep their win streak going against the Suns and their league worst 4-18 record.
The Lakers have now won two games in a row, and though currently in 6th place in the West, they’re only 2.5 games out of first. The Lakers slow climb up the divisional ranks is in large part to, you guessed it, LeBron James. James has averaged 33 points in his past two outings, and now ranks third in the NBA in points per game. One addition to James’ brilliant offense, is Lonzo Ball and his “cat-quick” defense, as LeBron put it. Lonzo starred in LA’s Friday night victory, showcasing his instincts and basketball IQ, by jumping passing lanes and excelling in help defense.
There’s not much to say about the Suns at this point. They are bad, and they will be bad for the foreseeable future. One lone bright spot in this game will be the return of Devin Booker to the lineup. Booker leads the Suns with seven assists and nearly 25 ppg.
The Lakers length and athletic ability should be prevalent from tip-off. LeBron will score at will against the league’s 25th ranked defense. On the other end of the court, Phoenix will have a tough time making up for those points, as they rank as the second to last offensive unit in the NBA. The Lakers, however, are a top ten scoring team, and are coming off a 114-point performance just two nights ago.
Score prediction: Lakers wins 116-104
- Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers: Take the Lakers
Los Angeles owns the edge in nearly every statistical category, as well as one-on-one matchup. The Suns lack any scoring prowess beyond Devin Booker. LeBron could go out and score 50, or score 15, and Los Angeles would still win big.
- Over/Under 223.5 points: Take the UNDER
Los Angeles’ defense has shown signs of greatness, and will continue to build on their resume against what may be the league’s worst offensive team. The Suns have not cracked 100 points in two games, and are coming off an 85-point outing in their most recent game.
Head to Head
These two Western Conference teams have faced off 246 times in the regular season. LA holds a 146-106 lead over Phoenix. The Lakers have won the past two matchups, and four of the last five, including a 131-113 win on Oct 24th of this year.
