Celtic travel to France to take on Ligue Un side Rennes this Thursday for their Group E opener.
Both these sides will want to get something out of this tie and put some points on the board as Serie A side Lazio and CFR Cluj await them elsewhere in the group.
GAME TO END IN A DRAW
Celtic have conceded just two goals in their last four games, while Rennes have let in three in their last four. While their defences have held up in recent games this could be a perfect time to bet on goals being scored, and that could be why the bookies are expecting goals.
MATCH TO END WITH MORE THAN 2.5 GOALS
M’Baye Niang scored 11 times in 19 starts for Rennes in last season’s Ligue Un campaign and has two to his name already in this one. The journeyman striker reached the final of the African Cup of Nations in the summer, however his Senegal side were beaten 1-0 by Algeria. The hitman looked sharp on his return to France and could be a good bet to score in this game.
NIANG TO SCORE FIRST
A high scoring draw is a tempting choice for the outcome of this game as both teams will be on the front foot from the off.
GAME TO END 2-2
Head to Head
These sides met before in the Group stage of the Europa League in 2011. The first game in France ended as a 1-1 draw, while the Hoops won the return fixture 3-1 in Scotland
The match to end in a draw
Rennes will want to start their Europa League campaign off with a home win and could rely on former Milan striker M’Baye Niang to lead the line, the 24-year-old has two goals to his name in the French already this season.
Celtic will be keen to finally get a good result away from home and are coming into this game with some good form. Coach Neil Lennon will be hoping French striker Odsonne Edouard can add to his three goals in three Scottish Premier League games tally in this one.
