Parma vs Juventus: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Newly-promoted Parma face a formidable challenge against Serie A champions Juventus, as Cristiano Ronaldo continues his search for his first goals in Italian football.
Massimiliano Allegri’s dominant team, who have won the Scudetto in each of the last seven seasons, have taken just two matches of the new campaign to reach the League’s summit once more.
A dramatic 3-2 win at Chievo on the opening day was followed by a more routine 2-0 victory over Lazio last weekend.
Although Portuguese icon Ronaldo is yet to find the net, it means the Old Lady are one of only three teams in Serie A to boast a 100 per cent record in 2018-19.
And the Turin club will be heavy favourites to extend their winning start when they travel to the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday evening.
In their way stand a Parma team beaten 1-0 in a closely contested clash with SPAL last Sunday.
Roberto D’Aversa’s side are the first team in Italian history to have achieved three consecutive promotions, having been forced to reform in the fourth tier after going bankrupt in 2015.
But despite their enthusiasm at the prospect of hosting Juve and Ronaldo so early on in their first season back in the top-flight, expect no surprises here.
The Bianconeri will have enough about them to secure the three points without needing to hit top gear, so expect a comfortable 2-0 victory for Allegri’s men.
This is the sort of encounter Juventus simply do not lose in their relentless domination of Italian football.
It would be a major surprise if the Old Lady failed to win on Saturday, particularly given Allegri will use the surprisingly narrow escape against Chievo a fortnight ago as a warning against complacency.
But despite their clear superiority, Juve have tended to be functional rather than flamboyant when facing Serie A’s so-called lesser sides over the years.
As such, a routine two-goal win is a far more likely outcome than Parma being on the receiving end of a thrashing.
The Bianconeri have scored in each of the four halves of Serie A football they have played so far this season.
In keeping with their seemingly unmatchable ability to do enough to get the job done, expect them to do the same again this weekend.

Head to Head
Parma have, predictably, struggled in recent head-to-heads with Juve, securing just one victory from their last nine meetings with the Old Lady.
That came in a shock 1-0 win over the Turin giants in 2015 in what remains their most recent encounter.
Jose Mauri’s goal ensured the Crociati, who just weeks earlier had been declared bankrupt, beat the runaway champions-elect in a scarcely believable result.
But the Bianconeri did register two other victories over Parma that season, including a 7-0 drubbing at the Juventus Stadium.
- Despite not scoring, only Roma’s Edin Dzeko has had more Serie A shots on target than Cristiano Ronaldo so far this season.
- Along with Inter, Juventus completed 22 crosses in the opening two rounds of Serie A fixtures – the most in the League.
- Parma’s 12 shots so far this term is the second fewest by teams who have played twice.
