FOR ALL MATCH ODDS
Expectations are rightly high in the white half of North London and Tottenham fans will expect to get off to a winning start against Olympiacos as the Lilywhites announced themselves to Europe’s top table with a place in last years final.
Olympiacos may well have a 100% record in the Greek Super League this season but they have only played twice and looked less than convincing in two 1-0 wins. Goals look to be an issue for Pedro Martins men this season and against better opposition such as Tottenham, that could well be a telling factor. That is one of the reasons why Tottenham are favourites to win the game with online betting sites. Another factor favouring a Tottenham win is that goals are no problem for the North Londoners, with seven strikes in their four league appearances.
TOTTENHAM TO WIN TO NIL
Three of Tottenham’s seven league goals have come in the first half meaning it is more likely the game will be a stalemate at the break. Goals galore is not expected but a narrow Spurs win is with the Premier League side coming a little more to life in the second half. As Olympiacos have only scored twice in their league this season, expect a slow start to the game especially as Spurs adapt to the cauldron-like atmosphere of the Karaiskakis Stadium, and that is why backing the draw at half time could prove to be a smart way to go.
DRAW AT HALF TIME
Tottenham are favourites to win the game with popular sportsbooks but we do not expect it to be by a big margin. Spurs have started the season in less than convincing style winning just one of their of four Premier League games whilst the last time they visited Olympiacos they failed to score. Coupled with the home side’s lack of goals this season, it is not hard to predict that a lack of goal mouth action may occur.
UNDER 2.5 GOALS
Head to Head
The pairs’ only prior UEFA competitive meetings came during the second round of the 1972/73 UEFA Cup. After Winning the first leg 4-0 at White Hart Lane thanks to a Jimmy Pearce brace, Spurs headed to Greece only to lose 1-0 sending the Londoners through 4-1 on aggregate.
Tottenham to win
Do not expect a goals fest as Tottenham have been struggling for form of late but do expect Mauricio Pochettino’s men to get the job done by a narrow margin. Greek football has been on the decline for a number of years now and Olympiacos have lost seven of their last eight Champions League group games. A qualifying victory against Krasnodar was convincing for Pedro Martins’ men but they will need to raise their game dramatically if they are to stop a Spurs side packed with talent.
